Castle View football standout, Nolan Laufenberg signed his Letter of Intent to play for the Air Force Academy on February 1st.   “The football team is highly competitive in the Mountain West Conference which allows for success on the field,” stated Laufenberg.  He continued, “I want an opportunity to represent my school in a bowl game some day and the AFA has been to a bowl game 9 out of the last 10 years.”

The highly coveted athlete is also a star in the classroom as well.  When it came to quality of education, Air Force stood out.  The CV senior continued, “My dad has always coached me. Throughout my time playing football and a few years playing basketball he has been on the sideline. My parents always stressed the importance of doing well in the classroom first. Participation in sports has always been an 'earned privilege' in our household."  Nolan also commented on the Laufenberg family's competitive spirt, "overall my family is very competitive and pretty much everything we do for fun, is competitive in nature. My parents played in college and my sister is playing volleyball at UNC Chapel Hill. I have always felt a natural pressure to do well.”

Nolan’s parents, Staci and Doug were both Division I athletes at the University of Iowa and know the pressures that come with making the decision.  “He had other opportunities and he kept his decision very close to his chest.  While on his official visit he disclosed he was going to commit to The AFA. We are thrilled he will be close to home,” acknowledged Staci.  Nolan will indeed be close to home as AFA is only 32 miles from Castle Rock.

Mrs. Laufenberg continued, “We are beyond proud of Nolan for both his success on and off the field. He has demonstrated extraordinary character throughout his High School athletic and academic career.”

Nolan offered awesome advice for younger athletes looking to go to the next level, “Make sure you have good grades and make good decisions.  Remind yourself in times of making tough choices, ‘I have to much to lose’. Don't buy into the [peer] pressure. Enjoy it all.”

"Nolan has made CV and the entire town of Castle Rock very proud", stated Sabercat Head Football Coach, Dustin Pfeiffer.  "There is no doubt he will 'fly high' at Air Force!"
