Cornell College has just gained one of the fastest play-makers in the state of Colorado.  Castle View’s, Dominic Ursetta recently signed his Letter of Intent to play football for the college located in Mt. Vernon, IA. 

Ursetta played a central role in delivering CV its 2nd straight City title last September when he returned a 94-yard kick-off TD late in the game to help CV beat DC. 

“It was an amazing feeling and I remember being so happy,” stated Ursetta.  “This was one of my favorite memories along with the times I spent bonding with my teammates and coaches at Mountain Camp”.

When asked about how Dominic decided on Cornell College, the senior explained, “I fell in love with the campus when I went on my visit -it was everything I wanted. While I was being recruited, the coaches would relate to me on a personal level. I could just tell they wanted me to play for them next season. As an athlete, feeling wanted is a huge part of the decision.”

Ursetta is setting his sites on business after college and will pursue a degree in business marketing.  In addition to Football, he will run track.  At CV, Dom was only one of 5 athletes to letter in three sports.  “After I graduate, I plan to start my life-long dream in becoming an entrepreneur.  I hope to start my own company in either Culinary or Fashion Design.”

Ursetta is the oldest of three brothers, one of which will be a Sophomore next year and plays for CV.  As an Italian, family is super important to Dominic and cited the importance that family has played in his athletic and scholastic career so far.  “My dad has been very supportive of me and has always been there for me since I started playing in 4th grade.”  He went on to talk about the importance of personal growth and contributions to the world.  “I want to be remembered as a great role model and aspire to raise a great family of my own.”

Dom’s father Greg stated, “Cornell College will provide Dominic with a great opportunity to play Football all four years and most importantly, get a great education.”  Mr. Ursetta continued, “when Dominic played youth football he rarely saw the field. His senior year he was all conference and it was because he worked his butt off in the weight room and on the field.  A lot of people said Dominic is not big enough to play in college. I'm sure glad he didn't listen to them. I am very proud of Dom.”

When asked what advice he would offer to others looking to advance to the next level, Dominic said, “Never give up!  Working hard and hitting the weight room is huge because the speed of the game changes and you need to be able to stay on top.  The extra work makes you stand out”.  He concluded with the following advice: “You have to want to be the best.  And to be the best, you need to write down your goals and look at them often.”
