Castle View All-State finalist and All-Conference winner, Riese Lutz is “Committed”.  Signing his Letter of Intent to play for Hastings College next year, the CV Senior is not only committed to be a Bronco for the next 4 seasons, Lutz spoke to us about how commitment has set him up for success in football and in life.

“Honesty, integrity, perseverance and determination. You can say all of those words. But what it boils down to is, commitment and drive. You have to be committed to whatever you do in life in order to be a success”, stated the confident and enthusiastic stand-out Defensive Back.  Lutz continued to speak about commitment. “Without drive, your commitment will just be one lacking honesty. Once you are committed to something, it becomes bigger than yourself, it becomes your life.”

Lutz acknowledged that the Hasting’s coaches made a big difference in his decision.  Riese mentioned that when they saw him “wearing cowboy boots and driving a 1981 Ford F-250 pickup”, coach Harper said, “you’ll fit right in”.

Riese’s parents, Erik and Jolie acknowledged their pride in his decision to choose Hastings.   “We are thrilled with his decision and think it’s a great fit for him both personally and academically.  It’s a small school with a big feel!  It has an amazing new sports training complex and a nice football stadium.”  Mrs. Lutz continued, “We are most proud of Riese’s drive and determination to go after what he wants. His efforts in the classroom, on the football field, in Boy Scouts and 4H have all played a role into molding him into a successful young man.

Riese was selected to play on the USA Elite Football Team through the American Football Worldwide program and will be going to Italy in April for 9 days to play against the Italian National Team. The team consists of top players from all over the United States and they will be practicing and touring each day as they travel from Rome to Tuscany and ultimately end up in Milan where the game will be played.

Lutz finished with offering additional advice for student-athletes looking to go to the next level. “Follow your heart. If you have dreams and goals of playing at the next level, follow them. If you are committed, there is nothing stopping anyone form doing what they dream of.”
