Castle Rock, CO

The Castle View Sabercats earned their 3rd straight city title over rival, Douglas County on Friday night in front of an estimated home crowd of over 4200 (Correction: 6000) attendees. The crowd was said to be a record by CV Athletic Director, Derek Cordes.  With the victory, Castle View has now tied the series dating back to 2011.

"It was great seeing such a large turnout for both schools and the entire community. The energy in the stadium was electric",  stated CVHS principal, Rex Corr.

Corr continued, "This game has become an event for the entire Castle Rock community.  Friday night embodied the statement, 'two great schools, one fantastic town.' I am certainly proud of all of the athletes for their hard work, and the sportsmanship they displayed. We certainly appreciate the way the community supports our schools."

The offense was led by Josh Mullinex, and Jaylen Jackson who both played under center throughout the evening.  Jonathan Terry opened the game up with a 24-yard field goal in the first quarter.  Jaylen Jackson scored in the second quarter with a 6-yard run to bring the score to 10-0.  The Huskies answered with a field goal in the 2nd quarter.

The strong Sabercat defense was led by Caleb Smith who had two 2nd half interceptions, along with hard hitting, Heath Helms and outstanding tackler, Connor Kelly.

The Sabercats (1-0)  will travel to Garden City, Kansas on Friday to take on the Buffaloes (1-0).
