Three-time AFC champion & Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist Karl Mecklenburg, confirmed Saturday that he will speak at this year’s “Back The Cats” event in Castle Rock, CO on August 10th.

Mecklenburg, one of the most decorated defenders in Denver Bronco history will be the featured speaker at the 3rd annual pre-season banquet hosted by the Castle View Gridiron Club.  The past 2 seasons have featured coaching legend Sonny Lubick and 2017 Hall of Fame inductee, Terrell Davis.

Mecklenburg remains wildly popular in the state. As a Bronco, Mecklenburg went to three Super Bowls, 6 Pro Bowls and was a 4-time All Pro. He is a member of the Broncos Ring of Fame, Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and continues to be a finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.  

“The mission of the Gridiron Club is to improve our town while enriching the lives of student-athletes through the promotion of High School Football”, stated CVGC president, Charles Oster.  “We believe this is something not just for our program, but the entire community of Castle Rock.” 

CV Head Football coach, Todd Casebier shared his enthusiasm after learning that Mecklenburg had agreed to participate at Back The Cats; “I loved watching him play.  He was a smart, tough, hardworking team-first guy.  The kind of player we want here at CV.” Casebier continued, “Back The Cats is one of the coolest events in the state and can’t wait to be part of it.”
