The 2018 campaign will get under way beginning Monday (May 21) as all CV Football players report for Spring practice. The first 4 practices will be from 3:15-5:30, Monday - Thursday.

The squad will break for the Memorial Day holiday and then get back to work with morning practices that go from 7:00-10:00 AM.

“Our guys are working extremely hard in the weight room.  It will be nice to see how all this hard work translates onto the football field”, stated Head Coach, Todd Casebier.

Casebier enters his 21st season as a High School Football coach, and first year at Castle View.  In the previous 20 years, his teams have made it to the playoffs 18 times with 3 state championship appearances.

“It’s all about the work.  We have to work harder now than everyone else if we expect to compete,” stated Casebier.

The pre-season for Castle View will look vastly different than past years.  Castle View will have 9 practice sessions before heading off to CSU-Pueblo to compete with other very strong strong 4A and 5A schools.  “We will get a good feel for where we are at in June and then begin to make adjustments to our plan throughout the summer.”  This will be the first time Castle View has attended a competitive team camp in the off-season.  Additionally, incoming Freshmen will be attending camp, so long as the minimum requirements are met, which as been set forth by the coaching staff.

Returning starter Josh Mullenix is excited about the season. “There has been a lot of great interaction with the team and the chemistry has been great in the weight room.”  The quarterback also had positive things to say about Casebier; “His excitement is contagious and guys are buying into this system.  This offense is fun and we are learning a lot.  Can’t wait to get out and start running it with the team on Monday.”

As per CHSAA rules, the team is only allowed so many contact sessions during the spring/summer.  The first week of practice is only shorts and cleats, while week 2 begins to introduce equipment, finally leading to full pads and eventual contact leading into “Full Contact” at the CSU-Pueblo camp.

Coach Casebier feels good about his new team, stating, “it’s been good getting to know these players over the past 6 weeks.  We have a really good group of kids who are really hungry and busting their tails. I’m really excited about this team”.  Casebier has been commuting back and forth between the Western Slope over the past 2 months in order to begin working with coaching staff and getting to know his new players.  As of today, Casebier and his wife Patty have moved and are now official residents of Castle Rock.
