The Sabercats may be in uncharted territory, but their captain has definitely seen this before.  While Castle View is having their most successful 5A season in history, Head Coach Todd Casebier is navigating a very carefully charted course in which he and his coaching staff have developed.  This current waypoint is one in which he has experienced before with 3 other programs.  This particular waypoint is the doorstep to the post-season as the Sabercats have improved to 6-2 with a 41-28 victory. 

Castle View handled a Highlands Ranch team loaded with talent, who on its roster carry at least three 3 Division 1 college athletes.  The Sabercats did what they do best; controlled the clock, took care of the ball and scored almost every time they had possession. 

“We should be in [playoffs] and are now playing for seeding”, stated Head Coach, Todd Casebier. 

The surprise of the night was the exceptional passing attack.  Josh Mullenix struck pay dirt on 3 50+ yard touchdown passes and approached 300 yards or more in the air.  “They stacked the box, so we knew we had to make some plays in the air.  I’m really proud of Josh. The way he stood in there and made plays.  I believe in that kid and so does the team”, stated Casebier. 

“I trust my line.  I trust my receivers.  I trust my coaches.  We know we can pass, and tonight Highlands Ranch made us beat them in the air  by stacking the box”, acknowledged Mullenix.  “I have faith in this team. We have worked hard together.  We have lost together.  We are now learning to win together.  I believe we have what it takes to go deep into the playoffs.” 

The Offensive line played exceptional once again and gave the QB time to make sharp decisions.  “We were planning on running but the Defensive Line began pinching, so we adjusted”, stated Junior Center, Zane Claypool.  “We worked as a team and got our Defense back in the game and kept marching.” 

Junior standout Running Back Jordan Jackson complimented the powerful passing attack by scoring three touchdowns on the night.  “We are improving every week.  Coach has us believing we can win”, stated the 220 lb power back. 

Co-Captain Andrew Grout acknowledged, “we gotta keep proving to the state and ourselves each week that we are capable and that we deserve to be in the post season.” 

Castle View will attempt to improve to 7-2 as they travel to Eco Park stadium to face rival, Rock Canyon on Thursday.
