Cushman Highly Regarded By Teammates and Coaches

“Hard working.  Unselfish. Great hands. Is willing to do whatever it takes to win. Leads by example more than words.”  These are the words of Coach Brian Schott as he describes WR/Punt Returner, Cade Cushman.

The Senior has been playing football since he was in 5th grade and is focused on helping his team earn respect on a state level.  “My personal goals are to block great for the team on the outside run game and to make the most out of my opportunities when given a pass.  Our team goals are to win in the playoffs and gain respect from every team we face and our community.”

Cushman credits the entire coaching staff for the collective success of the season so far.  “All of our coaches deserve a lot of credit.  None of us can do this alone”.  Head Coach Todd Casebier thinks highly of Cushman as well, “He is one of our best practice players. He is a great competitor that puts the team first.”

Cade reflected back on what the game of football has taught him and cited the lesson of “never giving up” and how it has taught him to handle different situations.  Cushman has continually come up with big plays throughout the year helping to contribute to the Sabercats most successful 5A season in history.

After High School, Cushman plans to attend college and pursue a degree in business.  When not at school or on the Football field, Cade loves to ride dirt bikes.  He has grown up in Castle Rock and lives with his family: Jon and Beth (parents) and  Hannah, Zach and Luke (siblings).

The standout player concluded with the following thoughts about post-season. “I’m excited to see how far this team can go. If we can put 4 quarters of great offense and defense together, we could be dangerous.”
