Letter from Coach Casebier (May 2nd)

Football Families,

Hopefully I have had a chance to meet many, if not most of you by now.  My name is Todd Casebier and I will be coaching your football player this Fall, which means I will be working with you and your player beginning this Spring.

This will be my 4th Head Coaching assignment in the past 20 years here in Colorado.  I have been coaching for total of 27 years.  When you add my time playing in middle and high school plus college, I have been involved with this great game for over 35 years!

It is safe to say that I love this game, and that is exactly what I want for your player!  While I cannot guarantee that we will win a state 5A title in 2018, what I can promise is that we will work tirelessly to build a championship program.  We have players, parents, coaches that are committed and working hard.  When you add this with the support we have from the community, students and administration -  there is little doubt that CV Football can and will be a great success!

There are a number of important things that I wish to make known in this email.  It is very important that you invest a few minutes reading through this carefully.

  • LUCK is spelled "W-O-R-K".  We all have to be committed to working hard if we desire to have a successful program.  Our players, coaches and parents must be willing to put in a championship effort on a daily basis.  I am impressed with what I have seen so far by our players.  In other words, our players are working hard in weights class and in spring sports.  We are going to need you to work hard as well and this will likely be at the Booster and Gridiron Club level.  The Gridiron Club is exceptionally well-organized and can help our football program in many ways.  Make sure you are involved.
  • What is happening now (May)? As many of you may know, I was very eager to get things started here early and left my teaching position early at Fruita-Monument last month so I could begin "being in the building" over here in Castle Rock.  While I have been driving back and forth over the past 4-5 weeks between the Western Slope, I have had the chance to meet many of our players and begin to develop great relationships with them.  I can tell you that we have a great group of young men who are truly hungry for success!  Please note: I should have met your player by now. Even if your son is involved in a spring sport, by now he should have gone over his goal sheet with me and picked his jersey number for next year. I can meet with spring sport kids at lunch or whenever they have time before they attend spring practice/games.  If they are not in a Spring sport, they should be working out after school with me and other athletes who are not participating in spring sports. If they have a job, that's fine, I just want them to communicate with me.  Please have your player contact me directly should they have any questions.  After May 1st (per CHSAA), I would highly encourage incoming Freshmen to begin working out after school as well.  They will need tennis shoes, cleats, shirt and shorts. The after school work-outs are Mon-Thurs from 3:10-4:20pm
  • Communication - We will work hard to communicate to you through our website, social media channels and newsletter.  I will likely use this email sparingly and try to point a majority of my communication towards the website and through your player.  www.CastleViewFootball.com and Facebook and Twitter.  Also, it is essential that you sign up for the 2018 Parent Newsletter.
  • May 10th Meeting - I am expecting all 9-12th graders for the 2018 season and their parent(s) and/or guardian(s) at this meeting. It is at 6:00 PM in the CV Gym and we should be done in 60 minutes.  At this meeting, I will cover key dates, expectations and critical information regarding "where, how and when" as it relates to our Spring and Summer schedules.  Please be there with your player so we can all be on the same page.  Also, help me to get the work out about this meeting, especially to Freshmen.  It is vital that you are there.

I want you to know how excited I am to be here at Castle View!  I have been very fortunate to be part of and lead three other very successful programs and I intend to keep this trend going.

I want to thank you for supporting us, your player and the program. I also need to challenge you to believe in us.  Our coaching staff is going to work exceptionally hard to put us in a great position this season and beyond.  We are about to go on a great journey...together!

Go Sabercats!
