Team Reports for Spring Workouts

 Castle Rock, CO

The next chapter of CV Football began on Monday as players and coaches reported for Spring practice.  “The tempo is fast and the excitement is high,” stated Cole Oster.  The Senior continued about practice on Monday; “There is definitely no standing around.  Everyone is working the entire time and the team is really fired up about our direction.”

The Sabercats were introduced to many new coaches, including Defensive Coordinator, Eric Handke.

The new DC spent the last 5 years as Head Coach for Salida High School after working for Coach Casebier at Montrose.  Together, Handke and Casebier orchestrated one of the great program turn-arounds in Colorado state football history, leading Montrose team to a 9-3 record in their first year, following a previous 1-9 record prior their arrival.

When asked about the first couple practices, Senior Landon Williams was enthusiastic.  “The energy is magnificent and the brotherhood is continuing to form with all of us, including the Freshmen.  The coaching staff corrects and critiques every single thing we do and makes us work harder on every rep.  I can feel us getting better.”

Coach Casebier acknowledged the effort, “The team is flying around and working hard. We just have to keep working.  Teaching a new Offense and Defense takes time, but the effort has been fantastic.”

The squad returns to practice Wednesday at 3:15.
